Everything Notepad can do

Every feature ships free, runs in your browser, and requires no account. Here is the complete list.

Auto-save

Saves every keystroke within 450ms to your browser's localStorage. A green indicator confirms the save. Closing the tab, shutting down, losing Wi-Fi — none of it loses your work.

Multiple named tabs

Create unlimited notes. Each tab has its own title and content stored independently. Switch between them in the desktop sidebar or the mobile bottom sheet.

Find

Ctrl/Cmd + F opens the find bar. Matches are highlighted, counted, and navigable with Enter / Shift+Enter. Case-sensitive toggle with the Aa button.

Find and replace

Ctrl/Cmd + H opens find-and-replace. Replace one match at a time or all matches in one click. Works on any size note.

Distraction-free / focus mode

Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + K hides the header, sidebar, and bottom bar. A clean, centered canvas. Press Esc or the shrink icon to exit.

Live statistics

Word count, character count (total and no-spaces), line count, sentence count, paragraph count, estimated reading time at 238 wpm, and speaking time at 135 wpm — all live.

Download as .txt and .md

Export any note as plain text (.txt) or Markdown (.md). Files are named from the note title. Download triggers a native browser save dialog — no server involved.

Copy all

One click copies the entire note content to the clipboard using the modern Clipboard API, with a fallback for older browsers.

Print

Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + P opens a clean print dialog. Print CSS hides all chrome — only the note title and content go to paper.

Dark mode

Follows your OS preference by default. Toggle it in the header. Your preference is remembered across sessions. No flash on reload.

Font size and font family

Adjust font size from 13px to 22px with + / − in the toolbar. Toggle between a clean sans-serif (Inter) and a monospace for code, outlines, or ASCII art.

Keyboard shortcuts

New note (Ctrl+Shift+N), find (Ctrl+F), replace (Ctrl+H), focus mode (Ctrl+Shift+K), print (Ctrl+Shift+P), Tab to indent. Full list on the shortcuts page.

Fully private

Everything runs in your browser. No content is transmitted to any server — not even ours. Clearing browser data erases your notes permanently.

Offline support

After the first load, the page works without a connection. Auto-save is local, so it keeps working offline.

Tab indentation

Pressing Tab in the editor inserts two spaces instead of moving focus, so you can indent code or structured text naturally.

Clear note

Clear the current note's content with one click. A confirmation dialog prevents accidents. Other notes are unaffected.
